Dear Supporter
Last weekend turned out to be a good weekend for the Roscommon Senior and Minor teams and with a little bit of luck it could even have been a better one had our minors had a bit of luck on their side.
The weekend ahead is a massive one for everyone who is passionate about the primrose and blue. The weekend begins on Saturday evening at 7pm in Navan when our senior team take on Meath in Round 3 of the qualifiers. After a poor performance against Mayo our Senior team has put in a massive effort in training and were rewarded with a win over Wexford last weekend. If the can play with the same heart on Saturday then anything could be possible.
Our minor team went so close to a deserved victory against a highly fancied Mayo team in the Connaught final against Mayo in Pearse stadium in Salthill last Sunday. This minor team is a strong physical team and with a bit of luck on their side could go along way this summer. This Sunday at 5pm in Hyde Park, Roscommon they will go about finishing off the job of winning a 2nd Connaught title in 4 years for Roscommon.
I make this special appeal to you as you are a member of the supporters club and you are a true Roscommon supporter. I appeal to you to turn out this weekend on both days and support the 2 Roscommon teams. I appeal to you to travel to Navan on Saturday and help the lads out in what will be a difficult game. Navan is a good spin for most Roscommon people but this panel of players and management deserve as much support as possible after the effort they have put in so far this year.
I then appeal to you to make it to Hyde Park on Sunday at 5pm and give the minor team that final push over the line that the need. All you have to do is remember Ennis in 2006 when Roscommon supporters out-numbered Kerry by at least 7 : 1. We can do this again on Sunday
in Hyde Park. I would ask you as members of the Supporters club to encourage all your family, friends, work colleagues, G.A.A. club members and anyone you can find to come along on Sunday evening to Hyde Park and lets make an atmosphere in Hyde Park that has never been
seen before for a minor game. It may just be the difference in winning and losing. I would ask you to get the county flags outside your homes/business premises in the build up to the games at the weekend. I cannot emphasis how much of a help a massive Roscommon crowd on Sunday
evening would be to the minor players and management. Its the least the deserve.
I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday and Sunday.
Yours in Sport,
Brian Carroll
