Clann na nGael GAA Club will celebrate their 75th anniversary this weekend, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th August 2011.
The celebrations will commence in Croke Park on Saturday morning when club members depart for Johnstown on a fund-raising cycle for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association. It is hoped that a large crowd will gather to greet the group as they arrive in Johnstown between 4-5pm. Brendan Shine will provide the entertainment on Saturday night in the Marquee at the Clubhouse. Tickets €10.
Mass will be celebrated in the 3 churches on Sunday morning, followed by an afternoon of fun, games and entertainment for all the family, in and outside the clubhouse. The celebrations commence at 12pm with tea and sandwiches and live music. The official celebrations will include meeting and greeting GAA celebraties, past and present, to share stories and reminisce. A drama by Liam Dunne will be performed, followed by the re-enactment of the 1937 McCrann Cup between Clann na nGael and Caulry featuring players past and present from the club.
The celebrtations will conclude after the match on Sunday evening with a barbecue and live music by the Coyles. (Tickets available separately for the BBQ).
The Club Museum will display a variety of memorabilia to mark the 75th anniversary.
