Gaelic4Girls comes to a close in Monksland
Cushla Park, Monksland was the venue for the Gaelic4Girls blitz on Tuesday night last. Approximately 35 girls who had participated in the 6 week programme took part in fun conditioned games in front of their families and members of Connacht Council. Each girl received a tee-shirt and certificate to mark their attendance. The girls will now travel to Croke Park for a National Blitz on July 13th . It is hoped that all the girls will continue to play Ladies Gaelic Football with clubs in the area. Sincere thanks to Monksland Community Centre and Nancy Goode for her support during this programme and to all the coaches for their commitment in the past number of weeks. The Programme was generously supported by Roscommon Sports Partnership and the Ladies Gaelic Football Association and targeted girls who hadn't previously played gaelic football.
The last photo of the girls includes Clann na nGael coaches and Representatives from the Roscommon and Connacht Boards in the back row; Kevin Naughton (Clann na nGael), Ita Hannon (Secretary of Connacht Ladies Gaelic Football), Peter Shine (Clann na nGael), Geraldine Carey (Treasurer of Roscommon Ladies Gaelic Football), Caroline Geraghty (Clann na nGael), Tracey Keegan (Clann na nGael).
