Drum Church Window Repairs
Repair work on the stained glass windows in St. Brigid’s Church, Drum is due to commence on Monday 8th October. A second collection will be taken up after Communion at all weekend masses in the church, commencing Saturday 6th October. Your continued support for the church is much appreciated.
Envelopes are available and being distributed from this weekend for the Harvest Collection which will take place next Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th October for support of the parish clergy. The priests’ salaries are paid out of the ‘number 2′ account, which is financed from just 3 collections in the year – Christmas, Easter and Pentecost. The ordinary Sunday collections throughout the year have no connection with priests’ income and go towards paying bills, such as insurance, heat, light, staff salaries, candles, altar wine, altar breads, etc. As it takes €77,000 to pay the salaries of 4 priests for the year (1 x €20,000 and 3 x €19,000) there is an inevitable shortfall and the ‘number 2’ account is overdrawn in September each year. It is with reluctance, therefore, that we are forced to add an extra Harvest Collection. We are concious of the present economic difficulties but we trust in your generosity.
