Drum Cemetery Voluntary Group

Drum Cemetery Voluntary Group was formed in February 2010 with a view to carrying out the plan as presented below. A letter was distributed to every house in the parish, seeking voluntary help and contributions to enable the work to succeed. The group actively maintain and improve the cemetery on a voluntary basis, in cooperation with Roscommon County Council, and with ongoing support from Roscommon Leader Partnership.

Online Database

One of the objectives for Drum Cemetery Voluntary Group (DCVG) for 2010/11 was to create an online database to record the graves in Drum Middle & New Graveyards. The database is now complete and contains details and photographs of all graves in Drum Middle & New Cemetery. This service enables people living outside the area to visit the graves of their loved ones from anywhere in the world. View the database here.

Recent Deaths

A list of all those who have been buried in Drum Cemetery since January 2010.

Funeral Notices / Arrangements / Obituaries

Please note we do not publish funeral notices or obituaries on this site – please visit RIP.ie if you wish to find details of funeral arrangements.

Reflection Area

A Reflection Area has been constructed in the cemetery. It contains a 12 foot wooden cross with a life size corpus of Our Lord on a concrete base, surrounded by a natural stone wall. Outside the reflection area, the site has to be back-filled and finished with top soil and re-seeded. A footpath leads to the cross base and seating is available in this peaceful place to reflect. Itis  a pleasant and unique feature to Drum cemetery.

The Reflection Area was blessed on Saturday 8th October 2011 by Fr. Ray Milton (former CC Drum now PP Knockcroghery) and Canon Liam Device (PP Ss. Peter & Paul’s Parish).

Cemetery Mass is celebrated at the Reflection Area each September.

Donations

All of the work is carried out by volunteers free of charge. Any contribution towards the ongoing costs of maintaining Drum graveyard is very welcome and much appreciated. Donation envelopes are distributed throughout the parish each November in order to cover these costs. Donations can also be made to Drum Parish Office or by contacting any member of the committee.

Thank you for your support.
